Final Fantasy XIII-2 Announced! 18 Jan 2011

Square Enix has officially announced Final Fantasy XIII-2 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at its Square Enix 1st Production Dept. Premier Event.

Details are rather limited at the moment, but it will again be directed by Motomu Toriyama and, here's the surprising part, it will be releasing during 2011 in Japan.

Toriyama claimed that fans had desperately been seeking a sequel to find out more about Lightning, so that's why the game was developed. A short trailer was shown, which will be made available on the 20th of January. It showed Lightning in a fight with a purple haired man.

Everyone was expecting this news following the domain name registration, but I don't think anyone was expecting it this soon.

Final Fantasy XIV players given 30 more days free 18 Oct 2010
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV players are to receive an additional 30 days free play as a result of feedback and the current state of the game.

"Since the official launch of service on September 30, 2010, we have received a wealth of constructive feedback from the Final Fantasy XIV community, and the development and management teams would like to take this opportunity to express their sincerest gratitude," explained the publisher. For those who purchased the collector's edition and began to play one week before official service began, the month-long free play period is drawing to a close. Considering the nature of much of the feedback we received, however, and the current state of the game, we have decided to extend the free trial period for all users."

Square Enix added: "The development and management teams are carefully considering all player feedback, and working diligently to implement whatever changes and additions will serve to make Eorzea a better home for adventurers. We humbly ask for your continued support to this end."

To qualify for the extended trial period players must have registered a Final Fantasy XIV service account and purchased a character by October 25, 2010.
